Hello It’s me!

In this post I will give a basic personal background , I will mostly focus on the details that I believe may help readers understand my motives and evaluate the reliability of my work. This being a learning process I will potentially make mistakes and I believe that setting a personal background will help understand the reason of such mistakes.

Who is ME?

I am 25 years old from Italy but studying in UK. I quit high school early to pursue a career in the yachting industry. In 2016 I obtained the Yacht Master Offshore in Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK and secured my first job on a 55M yacht in Barcelona. From there I completed 3 season and had the amazing opportunity of travel around the world working and racing on some amazing yachts. This was an amazing life experience that has thought me so many lessons.

Back to school!

In 2019 I then decided to go back to school  and joined the BA (hons) Media and Cultural Production. I wanted to learn the theories and practices behind media production and be able to professionally report some of the interesting stories I lived at sea. During my learning process although I realized that I was very fascinated by online media, social media and anything computer related really.

How did I get into hacking?

From my second year I tried to turn every production project into something web/tech related. Along the way I got more and more passionate for the technical side of technology. I got interest in web dev, coding, networking and finally got hooked to hacking. I believe my passion to hacking has grown naturally as every time I researched a tech related topic and a story about its exploitation comes out, I end up falling in the rabbit hole of trying to understand how they did it.

How am I studying?

I think my earliest source was just listening to podcasts about hacking such as Malicious Life, The Social Engineering podcast and Darknet Diaries. This did not give me much technical knowledge but has opened my eyes on what happens out there in the wild web. I then decided to actually learn the technical side, I started few learning paths on TryHackMe and still loving this amazing tool. Currently, because close to my end of the year I am focusing on finish my degree and using my library access to research the literature on maritime cybersecurity.

What is next?

When I will be done with my degree, I am planning on getting the CompTIA Security+ certification and more broadly create myself a resume that will make me employable for my first job. More about my ambitions ang projects in the next post.

See you soon!
